Welcome to the website of the
LAA Suffolk Coastal Strut
The Suffolk Coastal Strut welcomes members from not only Suffolk, but also Essex, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire.
We have members with aircraft based at Crowfield, Elmsett, Great Oakley, Headcorn, Hinderclay Meadows, Lavenham, Monewden, Nayland, Old Buckemham, Priory Farm, Seething, Tibbenham, Wolves Hall, Wormingford and a number of private strips & locations.
We hold monthly meeting on the 3rd Wednesday of each month and an annual flyin at Monewden in July.
For those not familiar with a Strut, it is a self supporting club within the LAA. It elects its own officers for the necessary duties, and charges a small subscription to cover costs. Currently the subscription is £20 per annum.
The strut provides social evenings, and organises visiting speakers, the showing of video's, fly-outs during the better weather, and other similar events.
If you are considering building an aircraft, already own one, or wanting to be part of a group share, or just love talking about real aeroplanes then becoming a member of the LAA and your local Strutis a must. Within the LAA, local struts form the backbone of light aircraft flying, and provide a discussion forum for like minded individuals. Within the average strut there is a wealth of knowledge, information, and experience available - feel free to come and tap into it.
The LAA website is a great source of information, it also has a list of struts around the country if you are not local to Suffolk Coastal.

Dates for the Diary
6 Jun 2026
Strut Event - Lunch flyout
On Saturday 6th June, George French is organising a strut fly-out to Great Massingham
airfield for lunch at the lovely nearby Dabbling Duck pub.
Time: 12PM BST, table booked for 12:30.
Where? Great Massingham lies a few miles north of the Marham MATZ and the
Duck is a 5-minute walk away in the village itself. If you haven't been
before, it's well worth it.
The owner of Massingham, Olaf, has advised that PPR is required in order
to provide a briefing document to all pilots. If you're planning on flying
up, please let George know your aircraft reg and I'll collate a list to pass to
Olaf, who will then contact you individually to issue the briefing document
and confirm PPR once you're happy with its contents. Landing fee is £10
cash.
If you can make it please let George () know as soon as possible - by air or road
- either way, for table numbers!
Looking ahead to the rest of June, we're hoping to organise some midweek
evening fly-outs, including next month's usual meet which would have been
on the 17th June - watch this space.
