19th November 2009 Strut Meeting - Visit to the e-Go plane workshops

Please will you let know by the 16th if you are interested in visiting the e-Go plane workshops on Thursday 19th November starting at 19:30 where Tony Bishop will give a presentation and show us the progress with the e-Go single seat de-regulated (SSDR) prototype. The workshops at located at Main Hall Farm Airfield, Conington (not Connington Airfield), just off the A14 on the other side of Cambridge. Apparently there is also a good pub in the village which I suggest we also visit afterwards.

More information on the E-go can be found by clicking the image below.

21st October 2009 Strut Meeting - For the October meeting we had lined up a talk by Howard Cook on flying for Vintage Wings of Canada... unfortunately Howard was involved in a fairly nasty accident in Canada at the end of August while flying a Tiger Moth.

He survived but with serious injuries : a broken back, broken right ankle, broken wrist, two broken ribs, facial lacerations, damage to his left heel, and a bruised lung. He underwent lengthy surgery and recovery in Hospital. Although he has recently returned to the UK to continue convalescence, it will probably be some while before he fully fit again.

Vintage Wings of Canada

Although Howard is expected to make a full recovery, giving a talk to our strut is this month is not really on the top of his list!. Therefore Dave Trouse, who had arranged the talk, is sending Howard the Strut's best wishes for a speedy recovery. Hopefully we can arrange the talk again at a later date.

To cover the gap in proceedings Tony Turner has volunteered to step in for the October meeting and give a talk with a loose engineering theme - 10 years of owning (and modifying) a Jodel.

16th September 2009 Strut Meeting - As we have nothing planned for this months meeting, it will be down to the Sorrel Horse for drinks and chat.... Also to go over final planning for the Boxted Flyin on the 19th September
19th August 2009 Strut Meeting - Our guest speaker will be local pilot Nigel Wilson who will be giving us a illustrated talk on Display Aerobatics in the YAK-52

As usual when we have a guest speaker we would like to get the proceedings started as soon as possible after 7:30pm - Thanks
15th July 2009 Strut Meeting - Talk by Gus Cabre who is a medical officer in the RAF and a civilian AME (some of you will remember Gus as he was our guide on our visit to Coltishall some years ago).

We will also be finalising arrangements for Boxted at this meeting. It would be really helpful therefore if all those who are planning to come and help at Boxted could come to this meeting if at all possible.
17th June 2009 Strut Meeting - Talk by Richard Turner of BAHG on history of Boxted Airfield
20th May 2009 Strut Meeting - As we have nothing planned for this months meeting, and it will be down to the Sorrel Horse for drinks and chat....
15th April 2009 AGM will take place on Wednesday 15th April, 7.30 pm, at Crowfield Club house.
18th March 2009 The Strut meeting in March will be an illustrated talk by local weather man Jim Bacon.

Starting at 19:30 (sharp), although please note it will NOT be held at the usual Crowfield Club house but at a new (warmer!) venue - The Mulberry Suite at Greshams Sports Centre (IP4 3QJ)

This is situated just within the Ipswich boundary in Tuddenham Road. From the A1214 (Old Ipswich Bypass) roundabout into Tuddenham Road its half a mile, over the railway bridge, just past Seven Hockey Club and directly opposite the Millennium Cemetery.

The Mulberry Suite is the furthest building in the row from the road, and as indicated by the arrow on this Google Map

There is a bar on site for drinks and meals: Lounge & Bar Menu

This evening will be open to non-members, so all welcome. There will not be a charge for entry, although a collection will be made with proceeds going to Jim's nominated Charity, The Quidenham Childens' Hospice.

So put the date in your diary, so that we can have a good show of support for Jim.
